Ardent Sessions: Star & Micey
Star & Micey are masters at creating heartbreakingly beautiful music. Their sound can be described as introspective and folky, yet rocking and soulful, which makes sense since they call Memphis home. Although they are in a constant search for a new drummer, that has not stopped them from touring non-stop in support of their debut album on Ardent Music. From busking in the street to playing 1500 person venues, they're on a mission to share their music from coast to coast. Don't miss them on this week's Ardent Sessions. Ardent Sessions: Carney
Reeve Carney, lead singer of the LA based band Carney, recently nabbed the title role of Spiderman in the new Broadway musical set to open in February. The music and lyrics for the production were written by none other than 22-time Grammy® Award-winners Bono and The Edge of U2 with direction by Tony® Award-winner Julie Taymor (The Tempest, Across The Universe, The Lion King). In the meantime, he'll be out on tour fronting Carney as they prepare to release their debut full-length album which is due for release at the end of the year. Ardent Sessions: What Made Milwaukee Famous
Few have been disappointed with the sophomore effort from Austin-based band What Made Milwaukee Famous, What Doesn't Kill Us . The band has gone through a few changes since recording their Ardent Session, including losing keyboardist and all-around stellar dude Drew Patrizi to NYC and marriage. However, this set stands as a testament to just how good this band is live. The music sounds amazing even if you can hear the exhaustion in the voices of the band in the banter between tracks who landed in Memphis the day after a long weekend at Bonnaroo.
