Ardent Presents: The Nadas
The Nadas are a rock/folk quintet based out of Des Moines, Iowa that has been recording and touring for almost 15 years. The band recently finished a yearlong project that resulted in a brand new album called “Almanac”. The intention of the project was to capture the year of 2009, one month at a time in album form. The band wrote, recorded and released a new song each month, every month, for the year. The outcome was a sort of “snapshot” of the year. This week on Ardent Presents we are excited to bring to you a set of stripped ...
Ardent Presents: The Harmony Brothers
This week on Ardent Presents we are proud to introduce to you the small town laments of The Harmony Brothers. Labeled by local media as a sorta Everly Brothers-meets-the Byrds style of country rock, the Memphis based duo has punk rock roots but sounds as authentic Tennessee. Ardent Sessions: Wax Fang
While we could throw compliments for Louisville's Wax Fang at you as thick as molasses - instead we decided to just pass along a review from a fan - which we think says it all: "La La Land is an amazing record. Unique, Epic, Sprawling, Wierd, Fun, Heavy, Pyschadelic, Amazing. Go see them live and then multiply all of that by 10! Scott Carney for president!" If you can't make it to one of their shows, their performance on The Ardent Sessions can easily substitute as the next best thing! Ardent Sessions: Dave Cousar
This week on the Ardent Sessions we are so proud to feature Dave Cousar, a Memphis musical luminary. From touring around the globe with Jim Dickinson and Susan Marshall, to recording with the recently deceased Willie Mitchell and Al Green, to playing with Ardent Music's Star & Micey, Cousar has been as influential as influenced, while managing to create a sound that is uniquely his own. Look for his debut on Archer Records to be released in spring 2010! Ardent Sessions: The Black Hollies
The Black Hollies are from New Jersey - but their music is from the past. This week on the Ardent Sessions we check in with Jump Back Jake who released their debut album a year ago this month on the reactivated Ardent Music label. Ardent Sessions: The Broken West
The Broken West released their sophomore album on Merge Records last year called Now or Heaven. Ardent Sessions: Star & Micey
Star & Micey are masters at creating heartbreakingly beautiful music. Their sound can be described as introspective and folky, yet rocking and soulful, which makes sense since they call Memphis home. Although they are in a constant search for a new drummer, that has not stopped them from touring non-stop in support of their debut album on Ardent Music. From busking in the street to playing 1500 person venues, they're on a mission to share their music from coast to coast. Don't miss them on this week's Ardent Sessions. Ardent Sessions: Le Switch
