Last year Los Angeles’ Le Switch visited Ardent Studios to record an Ardent Sessions and we fell in love! Their music is high energy and a whole lot of fun! Here’s what they have been up to since they recorded their session – which you can listen to here.
As answered by Aaron Kyle:
1. What’s the latest news??
—We’ve been in the process of recording our next full length. We’ve tracked 85% of it and it should be ready in the middle of 2010!
2. Are you currently touring?
—NO. Just recording.
3 What has been the biggest thing to happen to you in 2009?
—We put out an E.P. on Autumn Tone, Toured a little, Went to SXSW. These were are wonderful things and now we’re recording a new album.
4. What are your recording plans?
—We’ve been recording at The Hangar in Sacramento, CA. It’s been a blast. Very cool space and nice equipment for a great cost.
5. What’s the best music event you have attended?
—I would say SXSW. It’s pretty insane. So much great music to see and most of it for free.
6. Name some albums you have been listening to this year and why you
like them
—I have been listening to:
Vetiver – Tight Knit – Because it’s so well produced and the songs are all really good.
George Harrison – All Things Must Pass – No explanation needed.
Dirty Projectors – Bitte Orca – It’s a weird record but has great pop elements for such a proggy record.
I’ve also been listening to a lot of Tom Petty.
7. What was the last album you purchased on the day it was released?
—Good Question. The New Wilco record…
8. Can you explain the name of your band?
—It’s Half American and Half French.
9. Do you prefer recording or touring? Why?
—I prefer touring cause I love playing live. I might have a problem with instant gratification.
10. Is there a particular method you have for composing a song? Where do you feel most comfortable writing music?
—I write all of my music in my living room on acoustic guitar and then take to the rehearsal space to get taken apart and put back together.
11. What is the most memorable experience you’ve had on tour?
—I would say when we were on tour with The Radar Bros. and headed to reno. Out nowhere a big rock hit our windsheild. I take those falling rocks signs pretty seriously now.
12. How was your experience recording at Ardent Studios?
—All I wanna do is go back to Memphis, eat good food and record an album at Ardent. It was such a pleasurable experience. Thanks for having us!
